#2 Plant for a Hamptons garden in the subtropics

Tristaniopsis luscious
One of the most popular planting trends in the Hamptons style garden at the moment is the defined narrow tree form. This is usually an ornamental pear (or similar), that does not grow well in subtropical climates. The Kanooka Gum is a great substitute that can produce a similar form quite easily with minimal maintenance.

The white bark looks stunning against the lush green foliage and creates a beautiful contrast. These trees work best if positioned in the front part of a garden bed, with low planting underneath to highlight the unique planting and pruning style.
